Are you currently doing a doctorate at Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) in the Humanities and Social Sciences, including Law and Economics, or would you like to do your doctorate here?

Then why not become a member of the Gutenberg Graduate School of the Humanities and Social Sciences (GSHS) and benefit from a wide range of information and advisory services, workshops, scholarship opportunities and more.

The GSHS offers an integrated funding and support programme specifically tailored to the needs of early-career researchers in the humanities and social sciences. Our programme is designed to support you in successfully completing your qualification project and acquiring the skills needed for a successful career in academia, the world of business or in the wider society. We provide guidance and support in areas such as interdisciplinary exchange and methodological reflection and we’ll help you broaden your academic and social horizons.

In addition to individual advice and workshops, the GSHS also offers financial support options: The research proposal scholarship supports doctoral candidates in developing their project and acquiring doctoral funding. For research-related stays abroad, there is the possibility of receiving a grant through our Short Stays Abroad programme.

We also offer you the opportunity to network with other scholars, e.g. as part of a research group. We work closely with other continuing education and advisory services at JGU to create optimal conditions for doctoral and postdoctoral projects in the humanities and social sciences.

Would you like to stay up to date with what’s going on, find out about interesting opportunities to boost your qualifications, or the latest job vacancies? Our newsletter has the answers!

The GSHS is funded by the Rhineland-Palatinate Research Initiative (in German).

The GSHS is part of the Gutenberg Academy.
