Are you about to complete your master’s (or similar) degree or have you just finished it? Are you interested in doing a doctorate in the humanities or social sciences at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz? Are you looking for bridging funding to develop your doctoral project and obtain doctoral funding (doctoral position or doctoral scholarship)?
Then the Research Proposal Scholarship from the Gutenberg Graduate School of the Humanities and Social Sciences could be the right thing for you.
Our six-month Research Proposal Scholarship allows you to concentrate fully on your doctoral project during the initial doctoral phase. Experienced lecturers will support you in the preparation of your research proposal as part of a workshop programme and will also provide you with a lot of additional information on how to get off to a good start with your doctorate. As a scholarship holder, you will automatically receive junior membership of the Gutenberg Graduate School and thus access to individual advice and a qualification programme tailored to your needs.
You can apply towards the end of your studies or after successful completion – regardless of whether you have studied at Johannes Gutenberg University or at another university in Germany or abroad. In order to apply, you need the confirmation of a mentor at Johannes Gutenberg University who is willing to supervise you during the funding phase of the Research Proposal Scholarship. This does not constitute a confirmation of supervision for a later doctorate.
We recommend that you start compiling your application documents in good time. You can find answers to frequently asked questions on our FAQ page.
