According to the Rhineland-Palatinate University Act, all JGU doctoral candidates are required to register by applying for acceptance as a doctoral candidate at the faculty in question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For all administrative and legal questions regarding your doctoral degree assessment procedure, please contact the Dean’s Offices or rectorates<\/a><\/strong>. These often have their own doctoral offices. The regulations and procedures governing the doctorate<\/strong><\/a> specify which requirements you must meet in order to be admitted to a doctoral programme, how the doctoral degree assessment procedure works and which doctoral requirements you must fulfill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If all formal requirements are met, you can submit the application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate<\/strong><\/a> via the JOGU-StINe<\/strong><\/a> portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this you will need confirmation of their willingness to supervise you from a supervisor<\/a><\/strong> and have a provisional working title for your doctoral dissertation. In addition, the doctoral subject<\/a><\/strong> must be stated. If you obtained the degree entitling you to do a doctorate (e.g. master’s degree) abroad, you must also apply for recognition of your foreign educational qualifications<\/strong><\/a> via JOGU-StINe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You must then print out the proposal for acceptance as a doctoral candidate and submit it, signed by your supervisor, to the faculty or rectorate<\/strong> along with all other documents. Once your proposal has been accepted, you will receive an official notification<\/strong> from your faculty or rectorate. From this point on, you are a registered doctoral candidate<\/a><\/strong> at JGU and will receive access to specific services and other benefits (e.g. JGU doctoral candidate account, offers from the General Postgraduate Programme,<\/strong><\/a> eligibility to vote for and be elected to the PhD representatives group<\/strong><\/a>), as well as the opportunity to apply for a full GSHS membership<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parallel to acceptance as a doctoral candidate (or at a later date), you can also apply for enrolment as a doctoral student<\/a><\/strong>. This is not obligatory, but is recommended by the GSHS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
