1. Scope of application

These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) apply to all events organised by the Gutenberg Graduate School of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Members of the GSHS as well as external participants are included in the personal scope of application.

2. Registration procedure

Registration for the events takes place online via the GSHS Continuing Education portal. Once the admission requirements stated in the event description have been checked and the registration processed by the GSHS, a confirmation of receipt will be sent.

In addition to membership status in the GSHS and the order of registration, educational criteria may also be applied when allocating places.

Decisions on participation will be made in good time before the start of the event. At this time, participants will receive a binding confirmation of registration as well as further necessary information.

If you have to cancel unexpectedly, please inform us immediately so that the place can be allocated to someone else as quickly as possible. In the case of events for which a fee is charged, please note the cancellation conditions (see 4. below).

In cases of repeated unexcused absence without valid reason, cancellation at very short notice (less than five working days before the start of the event) or other violations of the General Terms and Conditions, the GSHS reserves the right to block admission to further events for a limited period of time.

3. Event requirements

3.1. As a rule, a minimum number of participants is required for an event to take place. If this number is not reached, GSHS reserves the right to cancel the event after the registration deadline.

3.2. In the event of short-term cancellations by lecturers, or where circumstances occur that are beyond our control, the GSHS reserves the right to hold the event with a different lecturer, or on a different date, or in exceptional cases to cancel altogether. Participants are not entitled to any further claims.

4 Participation fees and cancellation conditions

The events are generally free of charge, unless otherwise stated in the event description.
In the case of events with a fee, the exact payment and cancellation conditions can be found in the relevant announcement or registration confirmation.

5. Event documents

5.1. Seminar documents (handouts, presentations and other materials made available during our events) are protected by copyright and may not be reproduced or used commercially, even in part, without the written consent of the lecturer.
5.2. Participants are granted the simple, spatially and temporally unrestricted right to use the seminar documents provided to them as intended for the purpose of their own further qualification.
5.3. Participants are entitled to make a single backup copy of any seminar documents provided in paper form. No further copies are permitted.
5.4. If seminar documents are made available to participants in electronic form, they are entitled to reproduce them only to the extent that this is technically necessary to open and display the documents. In addition, a backup copy of seminar documents provided in electronic form may be made and simply printed out in paper form. Any further reproduction is prohibited.

6. Image, sound and video recordings

The production of image, sound and video recordings is only permitted with the prior consent of the lecturer concerned and all other persons participating in the event; copyright, personal rights and data protection concerns must be taken into account. Image, audio and video recordings made after consent has been given may only be used for the purposes of your own documentation. Any other use, in particular public use, is not permitted.

7. Confidentiality

Our events take place in a protected and confidential environment in which a wide range of professional and sometimes personal topics are discussed openly. Information that participants or lecturers pass on during our events – especially information of a personal nature – must be treated confidentially and may not be passed on to third parties.
